Already looking to downsize for their senior years, Elizabeth and Harvey noticed a sign in their area. They’d lived there for 25 years and wanted to stay in the region. “And they were on time,” said Harvey, “which was very nice for us.”

A Welcoming Community Provides New Friends

The sense of connection Elizabeth and Harvey feel in their new home extends to the entire community. “We love our neighbors,” Harvey said. “everybody watches out for each other, which is really nice.” They didn’t “exactly socialize” with their former neighbors on a regular basis. "But here we have that opportunity. So it's nice."

From a monthly social hour in the clubhouse to book clubs and exercise classes, they’ve discovered the joy in spending time with those who live close by. “Meeting with our neighbors is is just a joy,” Elizabeth said.

The amply-sized clubhouse provides a neutral location for community events. And the pool provides a place for fun and exercise. “We go to the pool probably three or four days a week,” said Elizabeth. And she quickly points out that they have a pool to enjoy but don’t have to take care of it.
