Traveling Again? An Epcon Community Makes It Simple

traveling again

By the summer of 2021 the pandemic travel and public gathering restrictions were easing in most areas of the U.S. and many people were finally traveling again.

Most of us had been busying ourselves at home watching movies, ordering curbside pickup dinners, dabbling in new hobbies and FaceTiming and Zooming with family, friends and coworkers. And a large number of people were working from home instead of going to the office. But with all of those activities centered at home, it was often tedious for those who enjoy traveling as a favorite pastime.

Traveling Again

You may have found yourself browsing online for trips, actively planning and getting ready again to hit the road or boarding an airplane. Educational travel organization Road Scholar, which caters to “lifelong learners,” saw a huge jump in enrollments in the spring of 2021.

“It’s no understatement to say the phone is ringing off the hook,” Road Scholar spokesman Chris Heppner said in an email. “We are seeing a huge shift in people’s eagerness to get something planned.” Some customers, he said, were celebrating new-found freedom to travel.

TV travel guru Rick Steves, 65, whose professional life is built around European travel, is an eminently respected author, public television and radio personality. Steves says that some 20,000 people were on waiting lists for tours with his company and others that are prominent in the industry.

Time For A Change

Many people had another revelation while sequestering at home: with so much time spent in a home where they lived for years, they began noticing everything they didn't like about their current home and felt like it was time for a change. It’s a big part of why the new home market was so strong in 2021 and 2022.

One of the big revelations during that time was the importance of outdoor living space. Industry experts noted that people were much more inclined to invest in creating or upgrading their outdoor living spaces in 2021. Gathering with friends and family and relaxation were listed as two of the most popular uses of outdoor living spaces.

Epcon Communities

A big consideration when planning any travel, especially an extended trip, is home maintenance while you’re away. Epcon Communities alleviates that concern with most lawn care, landscaping and snow removal covered by the homeowners’ association making it easy to feel excited about traveling again. Our communities also foster new friendships, which means homeowners feel confident to ask their neighbors to keep an eye on each others’ homes during vacation times. When you can stroll among the gardens of Versailles or Kensington Palace, or hike under evergreen trees in the Adirondacks or Maine, the last thing you want to do is worry about yard maintenance at home?

It’s a philosophy called the “Lock & Leave Lifestyle,” and it’s a cornerstone of Epcon Communities’ approach to a more carefree, relaxed life. Contact us to learn more about how the Epcon lifestyle can reinvigorate your travel lifestyle.
